Professor of Medical Biochemistry – Ankara University Medical Faculty, Ankara, Turkey
My research activities can be placed in the general context of experimental nuclear structure studies. I have addressed timely topics in nuclear-structure physics using various probes, in particular by applying gamma-ray spectroscopy to nuclei throughout the nuclear chart, but also investigating the influence of the nuclear structure on reaction mechanisms.
Dr Jovana Nikolov is a Full Professor and currently Head of Nuclear Physics Group at Departmant of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She has a background in nuclear structure measurements and nowadays she is mostly involved in applied nuclear physics and radiation and nuclear security. She got a PhD in 2013 at University of Novi Sad, experimental part of her thesis was done on NICOLE experiment in ISOLDE collaboration, CERN. Jovana is a co-author of numerous of research papers in international journals (more than 100) and few university books related to the applied nuclear physics and nuclear analytical techniques. She is a pioneer in developing nuclear forensics capabilities in Serbia and Western Balkan countries, mostly involved in training and education. Professor Nikolov is supporting IAEA as an external expert in delivering trainings in Radiological Crime Scene Management and Nuclear Forensics for member states, particularly in the area of radiation protection and detection. She was involved in developing of training materials and educational programmes in Serbia and also in the region as well as for IAEA workshops. She organized a few regional trainings in the area of nuclear forensics in collaboration with EC-JRC Karlsruhe. As a University professor she was involved in curricula development of numerous of courses and accreditation process. She is a representative of University of Novi Sad in IAEA International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN) and currently acting as a Vice Chair of Working Group 1 devoted to teaching material development and maintaining. From the year 2022, she is a co-chair of Guidelines Task Group in Nuclear Forensics International Technical Working Group (ITWG) together with a colleague from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Recently, Jovana became a member of Black Sea Women in Nuclear Network (BSWN), the network that is strongly promoting the idea of creating barrier-free and diverse opportunities for women to succeed in the nuclear industry and increase their presence in leadership.
