Albert Guvenis obtained his PhD from Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA where he did research on the statistical modeling and design of reliable systems. He then joined the Radiology department of the University of Pennsylvania as a faculty member where he worked in the development of a new Positron Emission Tomography Camera. He continued his work at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of Bogazici University where he undertook work to improve the reliability of biomedical systems, in particular, medical imaging. He cooperated with ECRI Philadelphia, JCI, Chicago, WHO, Geneva and Moffitt, Tampa, USA in various projects. He coauthored a US patent on a new sleep apnea technology which then led to a start-up. He pioneered several studies in high precision imaging that led to fundamental and comprehensive solutions to several problems by addressing root causes and systems modeling. Prof Guvenis is a member of a number of professional societies including IEEE, AHA and is currently affiliated with the European University of the Brain and Technology.
