Abstract

Medical Imaging Technologists
(TGT)  by using highly developed
technical equipments perform different
imaging applications in many different modalities with safely and
effectively(computed tomography, mammography, conventional x-ray, dental
radiology etc.). High technologic equipments and differences of education
levels shows the importance of  the
radiation safety and protection knowledge of TGT's.

The level of knowledge and skills
related to radiation protection is the most important issue in the field of
medical imaging for the protection of patients and employees from radiation. For
this reason, radiation safety and protection education guide has been published
by the European Union in order to establish certain standards in radiation
protection education in 2014. In this guideline, curricula and course contents
related to radiation protection were determined for education in universities.

In this study specified
criteria in European Union guidelines was compared with the radiation safety
and protection training curriculum and course contents of   Universities in Turkey.  The results of the study will contribute to
the preparation and development of the curriculum related to radiation safety
and protection and to get a certain education standard in universities. In the
results of the study, radiation safety and protection education curriculum and
course contents were found that a lower level according to of the European
Union guide.

Türkiye’ deki Radyasyon Güvenliği ve Koruma Eğitiminin Değerlendirilmesi

Year 2018, Issue: 14, 249 - 254, 31.12.2018
https://doi.org/10.31590/ejosat.479367
